Resources
An important natural resource was water. Southern Colorado was a dry place. The average rainfall was about 13 inches a year. In times past, Pueblo people relied on winter snow and summer rains, but they also had to be prepared for periods of drought. The ancient Pueblo were excellent water conservationists and they even built special structures such as check dams and reservoirs to help manage water. Pueblo people had other water supply too. For example: There are springs in the canyon bottom, close to the site. Water was a very important natural resource for Puebloans.
Layers of hard, dense stone between the softer sandstone strata in the canyon provide the raw materials for making a wide variety of tools such as hammers, axes, and arrowheads. The sandstone cliffs yield stone that can be used to construct walls and buildings. The messa tops provide good soil for farming and there are natural springs in the canyon bottom. The varied terrain supports many different plants and animal species. From the artifact found, we know that the ancient Pueblo people were experts at using the many natural resources available.

From rivers, streams and oceans, ancient Puebloans got their water and it was a very valuable resource to them as they needed it everyday for a lot of things.
This video is on natural resources and how/why people use them. It is a present day video but it still explains the same resources that were used back then.
