Puebloan People
The Pueblo people were ancient Native Americans. These people are called Ancestral Pueblo people, and sometimes they are called the Anasazi. The puebloan peoples come from 3 major cultures: Mogollon, an area near the Gila Wilderness, Hohokam, archaeological term for a settlement in the Southwest, Ancient Pueblo Peoples (or the Anasazi, a term coined by the Navajo), a traditional enemy. They lived in pit houses, and cliff dwellings, they were known for living in compact permanent settlements, which were called pueblos. These houses were designed for Puebloan people so they could lift entry ladders when enemies came to attack, the safety ladders provided a source of security. The Puebloan people made their homes out of wood adobe, stone, with a wooden roof on top. The Puebloan houses were 5 stories high. These people are called Ancestral Pueblo people, and sometimes they are called the Anasazi.
Making Trades
The Puebloan people didn’t carry everything with them when they travelled on long journeys, they only made and acquired stuff. The Puebloan people created blankets, sandals, and later created pottery and jewelry. They traded goods with different Puebloan groups. Mostly all their goods came from Mexico. When they travelled they left behind huge cliff houses, rock art, and even systems of roods. These people also built roads and could send signals to faraway places by using fires on tops of mesas or mountains.
Woman would usually go and make food on the side of the "pueblos," they looked like mud brick ovens and thye were called "hornos." These "hornos" helped them make food and cook it for their families.

War and Weapons
There were about 40,000 Pueblo Indians inhabiting the region, a number that would decline to 15,000 by the time of the Pueblo revolt. Most of the Pueblo offered little resistance to the Spanish occupation. The Spanish ruler in New Mexico over the next 80 years had some benefits. The Spanish introduced many things to the Puebloans such as: livestock and new crops.Iron plows facilitated Pueblo agriculture. The Spanish also afforded some protection from raids by nomadic Apache and Navajo, although Spanish slave raids on those Indians may have provoked the raids. The Pueblo killed 400 Spanish and drove the remaining 2,000 settlers out of the province. Twelve years later the Spanish returned and were able to reoccupy New Mexico with little opposition. The Pueblo Indians used bow and arrows, spears, and carved rocks or stones for weapons. They made these by taking rocks, stones, bark, wood, leaves and other desert material they could find. The Spanish people ended up winning because the Spanish soldiers had a huge advantage against the pueblo people.

The Government
The Pueblo Indian government is set up as 26 little republics within the realm of the United States. While communities govern their own affairs without reference or interference of other governments, each still recognize the authority of the United States over them. The Pueblo Indians began interacting with non-Indian groups since the 1600's. From that time the Pueblo Indian Government has remained self-governing under Spanish, Mexican and American authority. This is a brief overview of the Pueblo Indian government from just before the Spanish discovery up to modern day.The Pueblo Indians were allowed their government and granted full citizenship within the United States, because of this fact, the Pueblo Indians are the only autonomous tribe in America.
